About

My name is Natalia Ll. M. I was born near the sea, a place where the horizon blurs the line between the known and the mysterious. This intrigue led me to study marine science, which sparked a fascination with plankton that continues to this day. My journey has taken me to several countries, each a new chapter in my exploration of these tiny creatures, offering the perfect excuse to stay close to the ocean.

Among this myriad of life forms, the siliceous Rhizaria are my favourites. Their delicate, glassy skeletons stole my scientific heart during my PhD, in which I explored their role in the marine ecosystem. The impressive diversity of their shapes was love at first sight. I took part in several oceanographic cruises and witnessed first-hand the beauty of the tiny: a whole universe to be discovered.

To capture this wonder, I have adopted various microscopy techniques, from light microscopy to scanning electron microscopy. In cyanotype, I have found the perfect combination of art and science, with a deep blue tone that reflects the pure essence of the ocean.
